The Healing Justice Gala

We hope that you will join us for a very special and important event: The 3rd Annual Healing Justice Gala.

Hidden In Plain Sight: The Greatness They Don't See

This year's gala will be a masquerade affair! We chose the theme of "masquerade" as a way to symbolize the many ways in which we hide from ourselves and each other. In this act of "hiding in plain sight" we rob ourselves of opportunities to show up as fully realized beings as well as opportunities to form strong bonds with others in our communities. With our theme this year, we hope to bring awareness to the need for community healing spaces that facilitate communal healing practices and to uplift practitioners of healing justice. The gala will showcase the monumental greatness of Detroit youth with performances including spoken word, dance ensembles, monologues and choral performances. Additionally, two scholarships will be given out as well as awards to youth trailblazers making a difference in the Greater Detroit Community. The gala will also be an opportunity to exchange dialogue about trauma in our communities, led by the voices of our young people.

All proceeds from the gala will go back into the organization to help fund our mission to foster healing centered engagement for Detroit youth and help our peers transform their pain into power. Our overall goal is to build access for our peers: access to healing, access to literacy, access to liberation and access to new possibilities. Detroit Heals Detroit believes that our peers face more challenges than any individual person can remedy so our mission is to help each other heal from our trauma together. Our supporter network includes many prominent business and community leaders, as well as families of our youth. We hope you can join us.

Our suggested ticket price is $150 which may be more than affordable for some or absolutely inaccessible for others. But you can make your own decision about what your current circumstances can bear. If you can pay more, please do. If you need to pay less, please do. So you decide and let's hold each other up as a community and welcome each other into a room not determined by economic means, class, race, religion or culture.
